Annual Average of 25 Publications by XU Ningsheng during His Presidency at SYSU and Fudan
XU Ningsheng, former president of Sun Yat-Sen University and Fudan University has published 532 articles up to now, of which 512 are indexed on Web of Science Core Collection, and 20 are preprints. His number of publications ranks 1st among the presidents of Sun Yat-Sen University from Huang Daren to GAO song, the current president.
According to the Clarivate profile of GAO Song, he has published 258 articles up to recently. However, his Clarivate profile suffers from Published Name issue [1]. A name "Jiang, Shang-Da" is documented as one of the published names for GAO. Therefore, the publication records for GAO may be not reliable.
There is no Clarivate profile for LUO Jun, another former president of Sun Yat-Sen University, however, the 5GH team found a Scopus profile of LUO, suggesting he has published 129 documents untill recently, much smaller than the number of XU.
The 5GH team did not find reliable records for Huang Daren and the presidents before him.
From the year 2011 to the year 2021, XU Ningsheng was the president of Sun Yat-Sen University (from December, 2010 to October, 2014) and Fudan University (from October, 2014 to November, 2021). XU published 273 articles during this period, with annual average of 25 publications.
Since XU was the leader of a very large group during his presidency at Sun Yat-Sen University and Fudan University. The number (annual average of 25 publications) seems to be "normal". This analysis is not targeting XU, the scientific community want more transparency of the rectors' academic activities.
