Chinese Authors Are Over Represented in Advanced Materials Family
Our investigation reveals that Chinese authors are over represented in Advanced Materials family. In 2025, about 61% published in Advanced Materials have a Chinese first author. The number reaches 71.6% in Advanced Functional Materials.
Over the past decade, we have witnessed significant progress in materials science research in China; however, such a high proportion of articles originating from China in a single top journal is questionable and may suggest improper editorial practices.
